Notre Dame football update

Notre Dame nose guard Ian Williams and running back Armando Allen were invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, which runs Feb. 23 to March 1, and cornerback Darrin Walls was named a combine alternate, the university announced.

Williams was also selected to play in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 29 in Mobile, Ala., and offensive lineman Chris Stewart will play in the Texas vs. the Nation all-stars on Feb. 5 in San Antonio. Walls will play in the East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 22 in Orlando.

On the injury front, linebacker Manti Te'o and quarterback Tommy Rees suffered knee injuries in the Sun Bowl, neither injury requirs surgery. Nose guard Sean Cwynar, who broke a bone in his foot, and safety Jamoris Slaughte, who has loose cartilage in his ankle, are scheduled to have surgery and should be able to participate in spring practices.
