And now, as a public service (the Blob is big on public service), here's who's up, down and in between in the NFL coaching carousel:
* Eric Mangini (Browns), Mike Singletary (49ers), Wade Phillips (Cowboys), Brad Childress (Vikings), Josh McDaniels (Broncos) and John Fox (Carolina) are out.
* Tom Coughlin (Giants), Jack Del Rio (Jacksonville) and Gary Kubiak (Houston) are still in.
* Jeff Fisher (Tennessee) is in but might be on his way out, and Tom Cable (Oakland) is in but might be on his way out, even though if he was going to be out he should have been out last year, before he coached the Raiders to a 6-0 record in their division and 8-8 overall. (In order to translate the aforementioned, please contact Mr. Al Davis.)
Oh, and Charlie Weis has left Kansas City to become the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Florida -- where new head coach Will Muschamp made the dreaded reference to Charlie's four Super Bowl rings.
We all remember how much stellar luck that reference (which was pretty much constant, if memory serves) brought Notre Dame.
