Hart making progress

Guard John Hart hasn't played since Dec. 4 after having surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right foot.

The initial time frame on his recovery was at least one month.

So Purdue's game against Iowa on Sunday could fit.

Hart has been doing some running and shooting, coach Matt Painter said Monday.

"He hasn't practiced, but he's working towards it," Painter said. "We're going to have to see him get into multiple practices before we can start talking about (his return)."

Hart shot some before Monday's practice and looked pretty smooth. But stroking shots versus running full court, defending and getting conditioning back enough to play in a game certainly are different things.

So far, Purdue's been fine without Hart in the lineup.

Ryne Smith has emerged of late as a scoring presence, and the Dynamic Duo has been consistently scoring.
