Ben Hansbrough led the Irish with 21 points with 12 coming in the second half. Tim Abromaitis had 19.
The Irish had to gamble for the final 11 minutes of the second half with seniors Scott Martin and Tyrone Nash playing with four fouls.
Martin finished with 13 points, and Nash had 11 as neither fouled out.
Kemba Walker, the nation's leading scorer, had 19 points for No. 8 UConn (11-2, 1-2).
