Irish lead at halftime

Tim Abromaitis drained a three-pointer from the wing at the buzzer to give Notre Dame a 38-30 halftime lead over Connecticut.

The Irish kept the nation's leading scorer, Huskies guard Kemba Walker, in check in the opening half. Walker, who averages 26.7 points, went 2 for 7 from the floor and had four points. Napier Shabazz's 11 points off the bench had kept UConn in the game.

Abromaitis is leading Notre Dame's offense with 12 points. The senior is 4 for 4 from the floor and 3 for 3 on three-pointers. He would have a perfect not if not going 1 for 4 at the free-throw line.

Scott Martin has 10 points for the Irish, who have played strong defense despite not having leading shot blocker Carleton Scott (hamstring) available.

Irish guard Eric Atkins, who made his second career start, is 1 for 5 from the floor and has 3 points.
