Booties, the musical

Should I boot my dog?

Jan. 16 will be my dog's second re-birthday ... the day I brought him home from Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control. This is the third winter I've been through with him and the beginning of each winter, I've fretted over what to do when he stops on the middle of the cold sidewalk and held up a hind leg or a paw because it was just too cold to go any farther.

I did some research last winter and looked into shoes or booties for dogs and did nothing. When winter hit this year and he went four days without poo'ing outside, I again contemplated getting him footwear.

Someone recently told me it's funny to watch a dog with shoes on. They can't quite figure out what to do because the sensation is a strange one for them.

This week, I stumbled across this YouTube video of a Shih Tzu, the same breed as my Cody, wearing boots on all four feet.

And, Cody can thank the video. I now am resolved not to buy him boots. Besides, he's finally adapted to the weather conditions and he has enough against him what with the fact he has very few teeth and his tongue sticks out.
