Two words: Ug-ly

Dane Fife said it best Thursday night when he said the only positive aspect was that IPFW won. In the end, it was 76-66 over a Centenary team that hadn't won a game in what is now 22 tries. But the Gents came perilously close at the Expo Center, where the Mastodons were sent because the Memorial Coliseum's main arena is housing the circus that is in town. This was no circus. It was scary, from the IPFW perspective, but nothing fun. The team is flat, and Fife knows it. Whether it will be ready for Oral Roberts on Saturday will be a mystery. A concern is that forward Oleg Kovalov went out with a bloody nose that could be broken. Neither Fife nor athletic trainer Dan Fox confirmed the status of the injury. But more than Oleg's nose is broken. Something is up with this team that is struggling, because the Mastodons got beat by 35 points at South Dakota State. We'll see if anything gets better against ORU.
