Statement issued late Monday morning:
Governor Mitch Daniels has directed the state Department of Homeland Security to coordinate Indiana’s preparations in advance of a winter storm that is expected to move into the state beginning tonight. Homeland Security and Lt. Governor Becky Skillman will provide the governor with a report about what is being done to prepare for various weather scenarios by early afternoon.
Meetings are being conducted with utility companies, weather forecasters, local emergency responders and other state agencies, such as the departments of Transportation, Natural Resources and National Guard, whose services may be required.
The governor will give an update on the state’s preparations mid-afternoon today.
