Purdue leads Indiana at halftime

Maybe it shouldn't be surprising -- that No. 14 Purdue is clinging to only a 31-24 halftime lead.

It is against rival Indiana, even if the Hoosiers aren't nearly as talented as the Boilermakers this season.

But Purdue needs to turn up the offensive efficiency in the second half and leave this game without a doubt. For confidence sake, if anything.

The Boilermakers have a tough road the rest of the Big Ten season, and this wasn't, even if it is against a rival, wasn't supposed to be this difficult.

But Purdue isn't shooting well (36 percent), has six turnovers and is being outrebounded (20-19), and, so, Indiana is hanging in despite shooting only 35 percent and having nine turnovers.

E'Twaun Moore's 11 points -- on four of nine shooting -- leads Purdue. JaJuan Johnson, on his birthday, has eight points, four rebounds and three blocks.

  • The Paint Crew sang "Happy Birthday" to Johnson during pregame warmups. He smiled the whole time and gave the crowd a wave when they finished.
