IPFW "settled" for a 45-point, 95-50 win over Chicago State on Tuesday at Memorial Coliseum.
"Settled," because IPFW led by 55 points midway through the second half before the Mastodons eased up.
After a 51-15 halftime lead, the game naturally became ragged in the second half, which explains why Chicago State was able to score 35 points in the final 20 minutes.
In the post-game presser, IPFW coach Dane Fife said that Chicago State was a good team. I didn't see it. It didn't play defense, was screened off the ball too easily, had a roughhouse style, and played with little discipline, which explains why IPFW had 24 assists and Chicago State had seven.
In spite of the huge margin Tuesday, the jury is still out on what IPFW team will show up at Oakland on Saturday.
