Help author reach out to children in need

Author Debbie Macomber will once again run a Knit 1, Bless 2 program through Mother's Day this year.

The program benefits three national charities that provide handmade garments and blankets to infants and children in need.

Macomber, a knitter who weaves the craft into her books, is asking her readers to send a hand-knitted or crocheted item for donation to Newborns in Need, Project Linus or the Binky Patrol.

The official kickoff to the initiative will be Jan. 21-23 during Vogue Knitting Live in New York City. The Knit 1, Bless 2 effort last year drew more than 2,000 donations.

You can register to join the Knit 1, Bless 2 effort by visiting www.knit1bless2.com or www.debbiemacomber.com.
