Francis leaves team

Center Chris Francis has left the Komets.

"It was his decision," general manager David Franke said of Francis, who had four goals, 17 points, a minus-14 rating and 105 shots in 32 games.

Francis has returned to his home in Las Vegas and is awaiting reassignment by the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, who own his rights.

This certainly makes the roster decisions easier moving forward, since the Komets were probably going to have to drop at least one player in the coming week after the addition of Jon Mirasty.

Francis had sat out the last two games with conjunctivitis.

By the way, the Komets lead the Quad City Mallards 1-0 late in the first period tonight, thanks to a Leo Thomas goal.
