It has been a pretty good week for the Bellmont wrestling team.
On Wednesday, the Braves earned their state-best tying 14th appearance in the team state finals by beating Carroll 36-23 in the finals.
On Saturday, Bellmont sent 10 wrestlers to the individual semistate at Memorial Coliseum, had two champions in Travis Thatcher and Daniel Meyer and will send seven wrestlers in all to the individual state finals Friday and Saturday at Conseco Fieldhouse.
"After winning (team) regionals, that helped us for semistate because we are so fired up after the win," Thatcher said. "But after we won, we had to get refocused. But it was a big momentum swing right there."
The Braves will wrestle Penn in the first round of the team state finals Feb. 26 at Center Grove in Indianapolis.
"It will be another week of hard practice," Meyer said. "I am preparing for individual state and team state. Two big ones coming up, and I am just going to work my butt off these two weeks and hope for a good end to my senior year."
