Women top Oakland

IPFW took a mighty step toward a second-place finish in the Summit League on Saturday with a 70-55 victory over Oakland in Rochester, Mich. With the win, IPFW (17-6, 11-3) took sole possession of second place, because going into the game, the Mastodons were tied with Oakland (16-9, 10-4). But because IPFW has swept the season series against the Golden Grizzles, its owns the tie-breaker in the event the two teams finish with the same conference record. That means IPFW will be paired away from league-leading Oral Roberts in the Summit League tournament next month, and if Oral Roberts wins the tourney, IPFW would qualify for the WNIT. Senior Jordan Zuppe led IPFW with 23 points, hitting 6 of 8 from three-point range, and had seven assists. Junior center Stephanie Rosado had 19 points and nine rebounds.
