Indiana men's basketball coach Tom Crean gave an update on guard Maurice Creek's status during Monday's Big Ten teleconference. Creek has been out since suffering a stress fracture in his right patella against Michigan Jan. 15.
"He's progressing. Now we've got him in a situation where he shoots X amount of free throws every day," Crean said. "He's not at a point where he can be back out on the court doing anything of any type of exercise. He's around every day. We're just trying to help him gain as much knowledge about the game. Get insights from him. Give him insights as we go.
"The biggest thing for him right now is the strengthening of the knee and the building of his body. (Strength and conditioning coach) Je'Ney Jackson and (athletic trainer) Tim Garl are doing an excellent job of really trying to push him, especially to get his body stronger in this time period."
