Concordia girls fall

ELKHART – There will be no repeat championship for Concordia.

Caitlyn Tolen made a shot four free throws in the final 37 seconds to lift No. 3 Benton Central to a 42-39 victory at a Class 3A semistate Saturday at Elkhart.

The Cadets (18-8) missed a three-pointer in the final seconds that could have tied the game.

Freshman Courtney Smith led Concordia, who had four new starters from its state title team of last season, with 15 points.

Leading scorer Anna Goeglein was held to six.
