Against one of the country's best rebounding teams, Purdue coach Matt Painter stressed to his team this week about being aggressive on the boards.
JaJuan Johnson apparently heard loud and clear.
Johnson has 11 of the team's 22 first-half rebounds — Michigan State has 15 as a team — as the Boilermakers lead 33-24 at halftime.
Johnson also has been steady on offense, making five of eight shots for 13 points in 18 minutes.
E'Twaun Moore is four of seven from the field for 10 points, and Lewis Jackson has five assists to spark Purdue.
Johnson's short jumper from inside the paint gave the Boilermakers a 33-18 lead with about 2:35 to play, and Purdue was in control much of the half.
Michigan State's Kalin Lucas has 15 points despite making only 4 of 10 shots -- he's seven of seven from the line.
