Some word on discipline

According to Komets general manager David Franke, Evansville forward Jeff Christian will not be suspended by the CHL for his elbow to the head of defenseman Frankie DeAngelis on Saturday, when the IceMen defeated the Komets 5-3.

Christian got a major penalty and DeAngelis, Fort Wayne's lone all-star this season, is expected to miss a couple of weeks with a concussion.

As for Komets center Leo Thomas, who got a major a game misconduct for a slash in Sunday's 8-0 loss at Dayton, Franke said the CHL will not be disciplining him.

Which leaves the matter of Komets forward Derek Patrosso, who got a game misconduct for abuse of officials Sunday. I looked at the tape myself and I see nothing on there, but it's hard to discern this type of penalty from film.

Franke said Patrosso has denied verbally abusing any of the officials but, if he's suspended, the Komets would have to play a man short Wednesday against visiting Evansville.

Finally, there is no news on the possible return of defenseman Michael Ratchuk from Springfield of the American Hockey League. The Komets said they are hopeful, despite the shakeup earlier today in Columbus, that Ratchuk could be back this week, but they just don't know yet.
