  • Tremblay to get called up
Nothing official yet, but the word is Francois Tremblay will be called up to Lake Erie of the American Hockey League. He had a 21-save shutout Sunday at Indianapolis in his professional debut.

Not sure this is good news

I'm not sure this bodes well for the Komets in their hopes of getting Michael Ratchuk back from Springfield of the American Hockey League soon.

The parent club, the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, traded defenseman Rostislav Klesla and Springfield forward Dane Byers to Phoenix for forward Scottie Upshall and defenseman Sami Lepisto.

Ratchuk was called up Friday night because of a dearth of players in the Columbus system heading into today's NHL trade deadline. Now the Blue Jackets have traded away their longest-tenured blue-liner and a solid AHL player.

Remembering that Ratchuk plays defense and forward for Springfield, it seems to me, on paper, they may have more use for him in the AHL than they did a week ago.

That's just a guess at this point and it doesn't mean Ratchuk wouldn't be back if Springfield misses the playoffs, which is entirely possible.
