I haven’t seen any buds on bushes, and I haven’t seen any crocus shoots sprout from the ground. I haven’t seen a robin or the bunnies that torture Denali. Heck, I’m not even convinced by the 40-degree forecasts for the week.
But, I can tell you this: I know that spring is just around the corner.
This morning, as I was taking dishes from the table to the sink, I noticed a nice little chunk of white hair on the floor. And while I might be a bit unhappy that my red hair isn’t 100 percent red anymore, I knew it didn’t belong to me. The “decoration” was courtesy of Denali’s backside and the first sign that he will soon blow his coat.
We’ll soon find patches of black and white hair in the corners of the dining room and near Denali’s bed. The Furminator will come out of hibernation, and his thick winter coat will soon fill the bathroom trash can (and then some) all to make way for a lighter, spring-appropriate coat.
And if Denali gets a new, lighter coat, so do we. To that, I say, “Bring it on!”
