Some truths, or something

And now for today's Truths According To The Blob:

* Chauncey Billups is going to wind up having more impact on the Knicks than Carmelo Anthony, because he plays defense at the position where it's most important.

* That said, the people who are suddenly over the moon about the Knicks' playoff fortunes, simply because they beat the Heat in Miami, are out of their minds. Except for Billups, they're still not a good defensive team because Mike D'Antoni doesn't make it a point of emphasis. And no one wins in the playoffs if they don't play consistent defense.

* If the NFL lockout happens Thursday and the two sides don't meet again until Labor Day, the fan reaction won't be nearly as severe as people think it will be. That's because no one believes deep down there won't be a 2011 season, no matter how much the two sides dilly-dally.

* That said, it will be inexcusable if the two sides don't meet between now and then.
