Alert to K's: Evansville should stink

Someone must have forgotten to give the Komets the memo that Evansville is the worst team in the league.

The IceMen are 17-29-8, including their 5-3 victory over the Komets on Saturday. The Komets are 25-22-5, including their 8-0 loss at Dayton on Sunday.

But the Komets are playing down to the Evansville level again. It is tied at 2 after two periods tonight at Memorial Coliseum.

Would have been worse, had Mathieu Curadeau and Danny Lapointe not broken out on a 2-on-1 rush late in the period. Curadeau's cross ice-pass was one-timed by Lapointe. It caromed off the post, then hit goaltender Matt Lundin in the back and slid in to the net.

Evansville has two goals from Braden Desmet.

One of my big thoughts here is that we're seeing the value of defenseman Frankie DeAngelis, who is missing his second straight game with a concussion.
