Luers wins 2A title

Top-ranked Bishop Luers won its sixth girls state basketball title this afternoon, 59-46, coming from behind against unranked Brownstown Central with a dominant second half.

Miracle Woods led the Knights with 24 points and a 2A state record 14 rebounds.

Luers (24-2) trailed Brownstown 30-27 at halftime, but held the hot-shooting Braves to 3-of-14 shooting in the third quarter and regained the lead with a 9-0 run. They led the Braves (23-6) 39-36 going into the fourth quarter, then took command with another 9-0 run as Brownstown, which was 10-of-17 from the field in the first half, struggled to 6-of-23 shooting in the second.
