Just like in the movies

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Got out with the locals this morning.

I walked in, was shown a booth, and the waitress who introduced herself as Brenda came up with a smile as though she's known me for years.

"Coffee, hon?"

No thanks. Water and O.J.

"You betcha."

Yep. I'm in South Dakota, which is South of North Dakota, which, if you remember, is the home state of Fargo, the city, and "Fargo," the film.

Now some of you who recall the film may find the constant "you betchas" annoying. I find it endearing. There's a wholesomeness to it, like real butter and brown cotton gloves drying on the radiator after shooting hoops in the driveway.

See you folks later, OK? You betcha.
