FORT WAYNE -- For Harry, it was not to be.
Mayor Tom Henry announced Monday the new city and county government center at 200 E. Berry St. will be named Citizens Square.
The announcement comes nearly two months after Henry asked residents to suggest names for the building as the city prepares it to become the newest government home.
Online voting quickly backed the Harry Baals Government Center after the former mayor, and the quirky yet accurate name garnered international attention and ribbings.
Most city and county government offices plan to move into the new building this spring. The existing City-County Building, which is owned by the Allen County commissioners, will be renamed in honor of the late Commissioner Ed Rousseau.
That building will become the home for the city and county police departments by the end of the year.
