Bellmont coaching openings

Bellmont's top two coaching positions on the boys side are now open.

In two days, Bellmont football coach Rick Burkhalter and boys basketball coach Larry Patterson both resigned.

Burkhalter was the head coach for two years, going 12-10 after being co-coach with Greg Meyer in 2008. Meyer and another assistant coach, Mike Stimpson, also resigned.

The three coaches were assistants under Toney Bergman in 2008 when the Braves won the Class 3A state championship. Bergman resigned after that season because of a teaching position conflict.

Patterson was 25-60 in four years as head coach, after serving as an assistant coach for almost two decades.
