Komets can't find net

Here's a statistic I'd love to see: How many times has Mathieu Curadeau been stoned on breakaways this season?

That's what happened toward the end of the first period tonight, and the Komets trail the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 1-0 at Memorial Coliseum.

The only goal of the game has been scored by Justin Aikins, at the end of a 2-on-1 rush, with Jon Mirasty in the penalty box.

Curadeau isn't the only one who has been foiled. P.C. Drouin and Tab Lardner both had scoring chances that seemed sure to go in, until goalie John DeCaro did some fabulous work.

But the best save of the period belonged to Fort Wayne' Nick Boucher. Laying on his stomach, he turned away a 6-foot shot by Shane Hart.
