And Another Thing

Da Tournament so far

So we're through the round of 64 and on to the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament, and here's what I'm thinking, other than the fact that putting Louisville in the Final Four was really, really dumb in retrospect (as most mistakes in restrospect tend to be):

* I think Purdue looked really good at times last night, much more like the real Purdue than the fake Purdue we saw against Iowa and Michigan State. On the other hand, part of the reason Purdue looked really good at times is that St. Peter's was godawful, so don't start making travel plans to Houston and the Final Four just yet.

* In the same vein, I think the Boilers' path to San Antonio and the Sweet Sixteen just got easier with Georgetown going down. But not that much easier. Virginia Commonwealth ain't tea and crumpets. Those fellas can play a little.

* I think Notre Dame's headed for Texas, too. But only if the Irish play better against Florida State (another school that can play a little) than they did against Akron, a middling MAC school that frankly was lucky to make the field.

* I think if Kyrie Irving plays as well in subsequent games as he did in Duke's opening shelling of Hampton, it's gonna be a long two weeks for Duke haters.

* I think we're two days in and the Big East is down four teams already. Once again, this alleged juggernaut gets exposed in Da Tournament.

* I think if Tennessee decides to fire Bruce Pearl after the debacle against Michigan yesterday, the athletic director should hold the door open for him and then follow him out it. Seriously, what was the guy thinking, letting slip that Pearl may be done two days before the Vols' first tournament game? Way to sabotage your own guys, ya foof.
