The Komets are a sleepy team (insert your best joke here). In the latest of many problems with their bus this season, the Komets blew out a tire on the way back from Bloomington, Ill., last night. To make a long story short, they wound up stranded for more than four hours before getting back to Fort Wayne about 9 a.m.
They are coming off a 4-1 loss to the PrairieThunder, and they take on the Dayton Gems tonight. It's a crucial game, as Fort Wayne and Dayton are tied for seventh place in the Turner Conference.
But remember, the Komets finish up with back-to-back games against conference-leading Colorado on Friday and Saturday.
By the way, the folks at Memorial Coliseum are warning fans to show up extra early this weekend because there are multiple events here. Trust me, you will want to heed that advice, or you will be stuck in traffic.
- It looks as if defenseman Guy Dupuis, 40, is sitting out tonight's game. Amazingly, considering his age, he hasn't missed a game since 2007-08.
