Opening day festivities at Parkview Field will have an added video dimension this year, 3D.
The TinCaps announced plans Thursday to feature 3D segments on the video board throughout the April 7 opener against South Bend.
"Year one it was opening the ballpark, year two, it was celebrating the previous year's Midwest League championship," said Michael Limmer, the team's vice president of marketing. "In year three, not that we didn't have anything to celebrate, this year we are welcoming our millionth fan, but we wanted to bring a big splash to opening day, start off the year with something special."
Fans will receive a pair of green 3D glasses when they enter the park. The glasses have the blue and red lenses and a TinCaps logo in the center. There will be 3D segments before the game, between innings and prior to the postgame fireworks. The free gameday program will have a 3D cover.
Limmer estimates a couple thousand tickets remain for opening day. For tickets, go to TinCaps.com, call 482-6400 or go to the Parkview Field ticket office.
