Mitch Daniels: I have not made a final decision

Gov. Mitch Daniels said Thursday he has not made a decision on whether he will run for president in 2012.

“I’ve tried never to play games with you guys. If I had made up my mind I’d have told you,” he said, noting that he has busy trying to shepherd a legislative agenda through a process that has been hamstringed by a Democrat walkout.

“I do owe some people an answer and I know it can’t wait too much longer. But no, the straight answer is I have not made a final decision. When I do I won’t dilly around telling you.”

Daniels made the remarks after receiving the “Legislative Entrepreneur Award” from FreedomWorks for his dedication to rein in spending and restore economic competition in Indiana.

FreedomWorks is a conservative political organization chaired by former U.S. House Majority Leader Dick Armey that spent millions last year helping to elect tea party-backed candidates across the country.
