What's going on at Memorial Coliseum is kind of typical. The Komets came out hard, got a flurry of chances, but they couldn't finish.
After weathering the storm, the Colorado Eagles scored twice -- Kevin Ulanski on a rebound and Daymen Rycroft during a power play.
So, it's 2-0 Eagles after one period.
The Eagles are good. They are tenacious. They are obviously the best team in the conference -- hence their first-place record right now -- and I can't imagine a much worse scenario for Fort Wayne than having to play the Eagles in the first round of the playoffs.
I've just never covered a team that has a harder time putting the puck in the net, despite so many good chance. Amazing, considering Fort Wayne's talent.
- Kudos to the Komets for good pregame use of the video of Greg Pankewicz, the Eagles' assistant coach, stripping during a recent temper tantrum. Click here for a refresher on that. He was suspended the rest of the regular season for it.
