Notre Dame is returning to the NCAA women's tournament Final Four for the first time since its 2001 championship season.

The second-seeded Irish defeated top-seeded Tennessee 73-59 in the Dayton Regional final in the University of Dayton Arena. It was the Irish's first win over the Volunteers in 21 meetings.

Notre Dame (30-7) will face the winner of Tuesday night's Connecticut-Duke game in the national semifinals Sunday in Indianapolis.

Skylar Diggins led the Irish with 24 points, and Natalie Novosel added 17.
