Former players on the move up, out

Former Fort Wayne baseball player Cedric Hunter made the San Diego Padres opening day roster. Hunter, an outfielder, played in Fort Wayne in 2007. He had a .282 batting average with seven home runs and 58 RBI.

In other news regarding former Fort Wayne players, two members of the 2009 Midwest League champion TinCaps team were recently traded.

First baseman Allan Dykstra was shipped to the New York Mets. Pitcher Erik Davis was sent to the Washington Nationals. Dykstra, a former first round pick, had a .226 average but a .397 on-base percentage as a TinCap. Davis had a 16-6 record.
