Driving into work, listening to a couple yappers on ESPN ... and, yep, right on cue, they're all saying we shouldn't dwell on the ethical shadiness of Kentucky coach John Calipari, on account of he's made the Final Four and, you know, really kills the X-and-O thing.
The reasoning, near as I can tell, is everyone in college buckets has his ethical issues. So let's not single out Coach Vacated for getting Ws expunged at two previous schools (UMass and Memphis) while he went kiting off to another plum job and juicy paycheck.
Maybe naivete has infected the Blob, but I don't buy that for a second. I think there are still coaches out there who, as they say, Do It Right. I think you can navigate around the street agents and various other leeches who hang around the Optimus Prime recruits at AAU tournaments and come out clean on the other side. So, no, I don't Calipari's any less shady because he's coached the game off its feet this March.
I only wonder this: If he wins, how long before UK has to vacate the title? 'Cause you know it's coming.
