Leonard Osborn was distraught because he was unemployed and couldnt pay for medical care.
So on Sunday, Osborn doused a mobile home with flammable chemicals, lit a book of matches and left the home to burn. He then started walking toward jail, got tired and stopped at a nearby gas station to call 911 and admit to the arson, according to court documents.
Osborn, 50, of the 2900 block of Coliseum Boulevard West, told police he did not belong in the outside world, could not get a job, support himself or get proper medical care for his depression, according to court documents.
He faces a preliminary charge of attempted arson and is being held in the Allen County Lockup in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Police picked up Osborn at a gas station after he called authorities, claiming he set a fire.
While being questioned by police, Osborn said he slept till noon, got up and grabbed some mineral spirits from a maintenance shed and poured it in the mobile home. He then lit a piece of insulation on fire and left, court documents said.
Investigators found the articles in the home, but it wasnt on fire.
