Verbatim: I-69 in Dekalb County scheduled for restriction

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Fort Wayne District announces that I-69 is scheduled for a restriction beginning Monday, April 4, between Exit 126 and Exit 129.

Closures will be in the left lanes for both northbound and southbound traffic during the following hours: Monday-Thurs, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Sunday (7 a.m. to 4 p.m.) hours are possible but have not yet been confirmed.

The road will be reduced to one lane while bridge painting is done on I-69 over the CSX railroad/Diehl Ditch, approximately one mile south of SR 8.

Completion date of the project is scheduled for early May. All work is weather permitting. There will be a minimum of one lane open at all times.

INDOT advises motorists to take precautions while driving in work zones and while following detour routes. In 2009, 700 people were killed nationwide in work zones. Most of the fatalities were not highway workers but drivers. Additional work zone safety information can be found at www.WorkZoneSafety.IN.gov.
