Fort Wayne, IN - The mission statement of the Indiana State Police reads in part "we will ensure public safety on our roadways with vigorous and directed traffic enforcement." As a result, Troopers from across the state arrested 9,497 intoxicated drivers in 2010.

Two of the top four Troopers statewide in total arrests for intoxicated drivers are assigned to the Indiana State Police post in Fort Wayne and they were recognized for their outstanding efforts at an awards ceremony held this morning at the State Police post in Indianapolis. Indiana State Police Superintendent Dr. Paul E. Whitesell, PhD presented "Top 5 Life Awards" to the following Troopers:

--Trooper Caleb J. Anderson, a three year veteran of the Department, was second in the state with 150 OWI arrests. This is the second year in a row that he has distinguished himself amongst the top five in the state.

--Trooper Jacob J. Quick, a four year veteran of the Department, was tied for third in the state with 139 OWI arrests. Quick also had a total of 1,832 traffic contacts, made 137 criminal arrests and as such, was presented the "Fort Wayne District Trooper of the Year" award by Superintendent Whitesell.

"Troopers Anderson and Quick exemplify the qualities and determination that Troopers statewide have when it comes to ensuring public and traffic safety throughout their various patrol areas" said Fort Wayne District Commander Lieutenant Tony Casto.
