The schematics in this book are impeccable.

The book is organized by the approximate length of time to make each knit. So, you can choose a project based on your level of panic.

Joelle also suggests some finishing and presentation touches to make your gift stand out from the crowd.

Joelle Hoverson's Last-Minute Knitted Gifts can be seen as an extension of her knitting shop, now known as Purl Soho, in New York City.

Two other books have followed on the heels of this one, and all three have been published by STC Crafts/Melanie Falick Books. You can really delve through their other titles, and this one, on their website.

The patterns may be designed to be worked at the last minute, but they are anything but hasty. The Baby's Denim Drawstring Pants are adorable, but also feature seed stitch cuffs, attention to shaping to accommodate a diaper, and a clever trick for making the waistband even and neat.

Lastly, let me tell you about the photography. No, really. Even if you never made anything from this book, and I doubt you could resist it, the photography alone is reason enough to own it. The styling, the lighting, and the composition are all top-notch.
