BLOOMINGTON – A new report ranks Indiana University in the top 10 among all U.S. colleges and universities in private-sector gifts and grants.
The rankings released by the Council for Aid to Education place IU first in the Big Ten, first among public universities and 10th in the nation in voluntary backing with $342 million in gifts and non-governmental research grant funds in fiscal year 2010.
That represents a 38.5 percent increase from the previous year.
IU President Michael McRobbie says the increased level of support in spite of the recession indicates the deep level of commitment and confidence that alumni and donors have in the university.
The top three ranked schools were Stanford University, Harvard University and Johns Hopkins University.
