The Komets are on their way to the CHL's Turner Conference semifinals, thanks to a 6-3 victory Wednesday over the Bloomington PrairieThunder before 7,297 fans cheered at Memorial Coliseum.
The win capped a three-game sweep.
The game was tied at 2 after two periods, but the Komets got a breakaway goal by Artem Podshendyalov, a Frankie DeAngelis goal, a redirection goal from Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock and a P.C. Drouin empty-netter in the third period.
The Komets are likely to play the conference-champion Rapid City Rush, assuming the Colorado Eagles finish off Quad City tonight, and that series may not start until around April 15, a Komets official said.
But we should know more about the schedule Thursday, and I wouldn't rule out an earlier-than-expected start.
Check back in a little while for more.
