THE JOURNAL GAZETTE PRESENTS AWARDS AT THE 2011 SPRING BASKETBALL BANQUET

Tiffany Gooden Award Presented, All-SAC and All-Northeast Indiana Teams and Coaches Honored

Fort Wayne, IN -- The Journal Gazette and SportONE Ortho NorthEast along with the Anthony Wayne Lions Club are proud to recognize Brierra Young from Bishop Luers High School with the Tiffany Gooden Award for 2011. The senior averaged 14 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists this season and helped the Knights win the Class 2A state championship. The Tiffany Gooden award is given to an exceptional basketball player in the Summit Athletic Conference who shows extraordinary performance both on and off the court. The staff of The Journal Gazette selects the recipient of this award each year.

Denny Renier of Bishop Luers High School received the SAC Coach of the Year award for Girls Basketball. Reiner led the Knights to a 24-2 record, the SAC regular-season championship and the Class 2A state championship. Josh Eggold of Concordia Lutheran High School received the SAC Coach of the Year award for Boys Basketball. Eggold led the Cadets to a 16-5 record, a runner-up finish in the SAC with a 7-1 record and a number 1 seed for the SAC tournament.

This annual banquet honoring both the top Boys and Girls High School Basketball players took place on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Marquis Ballroom at the Fort Wayne Marriott Hotel, Coldwater Road.
