Responsibility goes unclaimed again

Not a platinum-class move by Texas Rangers' slugger Josh Hamilton, continuing to throw his third-base coach under the noon stage after Hamilton broke his arm sliding into homeplate yesterday.

Hamilton continues to say it was "dumb" of third-base coach Dave Anderson to goad him into breaking for home on the play, a popup along the third-base line that momentarily left homeplate uncovered. The rest of the known universe thinks that ultimately it's the baserunner who decides whether or not to go, and so Hamilton's index finger is pointed in the wrong direction. And he shouldn't have gone in headfirst besides.

The rest of the known universe isn't always right. But it is this time.
