Ice Chips

  • Looks almost official
Center Thomas Frazee posted on his twitter account he will play for the Komets this season.
  • Next great local hockey star?
Karch Bachman is on track to a professional career in hockey. Possibly one in the NHL. It'll be fun to follow his development.
  • A possible new Komet
No official word yet, but I'm hearing that the Komets may be completing a deal with Thomas Frazee, who had 24 goals and 47 points in 60 games last season with Quad City of the CHL.

Greetings from South Dakota

RAPID CITY, S.D. -- I'm here, and I'm cold. That's right, folks, while I hear it's 70 back in Fort Wayne, it's snowing here.

Eh, it's hockey, no problem.

It's always fun to knock another minor-league city off the list. I'm going to have to compile how many I've been at, but I'm really looking forward to what I've heard is a festive atmosphere at Rush games.

I do feel a little badly for Komets general manager David Franke. Because I grabbed the last seat on the flight from Chicago to Rapid City, he had to drive from Fort Wayne to Detroit and fly here through Minneapolis.

But, hey, he waited a little too long.

Our slew of coverage this week continued with this story: Click here.

I'm told I'm the only reporter -- again -- who made the trip, so I'll check in often.

Now, it's time to find Mount Rushmore.
