Purdue's next assistant could be from Butler

Butler assistant coach Micah Shrewsberry will be joining Purdue's men's basketball staff, reported.

Coach Matt Painter has two spots to fill after associate head coach Paul Lusk left for Missouri State and first-year Purdue assistant Mike Jackson resigned.

Painter said on Monday that there wouldn't be an announcement about staff changes until at least early next week.

Shrewsberry has been a full-time assistant coach at Butler since July 2008. The Bulldogs have advanced to the NCAA championship game the last two seasons.

Shrewsberry went to Indianapolis Cathedral High School and played college basketball at Hanover., which cited anonymous sources in its report, also initially said IPFW head coach Dane Fife was a likely pick to fill Purdue's second spot. But the Web site reported Friday that Fife withdrew his name for consideration.

Through IPFW sports information director Rudy Yovich, Fife said he doesn't comment on any jobs other than the one he has.
