O'Connor suspended at least 1 game

The CHL has suspended Komets forward Sean O'Connor for at least one game -- the league has yet to finalize the length of punishment -- a league spokesman told The Journal Gazette.

O'Connor will be unavailable Wednesday for the Komets' game against the Rapid City Rush at Memorial Coliseum in the Turner Conference Semifinals.

The Rush leads the best-of-five series 2-0.

O'Connor knocked Rush forward Ryan Menei out of the game when he collided with him at the Fort Wayne blue line in a 4-3 Rush victory Saturday at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

No penalty was called on the play, though it was deemed to be a lateral/blindside hit.

It's unlikely Menei will be able to play in Game 3 because of an apparent concussion.

I have no word yet on whether Les Reaney, who was assessed a major penalty for boarding O'Connor from behind, will get any further discipline.
