No news on the Fife front

Checked in with a few sources today, and nothing new on the Dane Fife coaching front.

Fife's name has been the subject of rumors for the past several weeks, beginning with a job at Bradley that was taken by somebody else, to being a candidate for the assistant position at Purdue.

That doesn't seem like a possibility, either.

What's out there now is that he is being mentioned as a candidate for the head coaching job at Eastern Michigan, or the assistant's job at Michigan State under close friend Tom Izzo.

Either one would be ideal for Fife, a Michigan native.

He wouldn't shy away from being an assistant under Izzo. It's a great stepping stone for a young coach (he's just 31).

Fife has served IPFW well. In six years, his teams have improved their record with each season. And although he just signed a contract extension, we all know those can be broken.

My guess is we've seen the last of Fife on an IPFW sideline.
