You may have heard that Darryl Bootland has defected from the CHL's Allen Americans to join a team in the ECHL. It's not the Komets, according to general manager David Franke.
  • Szydlowski would like bigger role with K's
Shawn Szydlowski, who re-signed with the Komets today, said he hopes to have a top-line type of role this season.
  • AHL could be coming to town
There is a possibility the American Hockey League's Lake Erie Monsters and Grand Rapids Griffins will play an exhibition game at Memorial Coliseum on Oct. 4.

Lots of action, no scoring

The Komets have come out hard and had myriad great scoring chances, but their game with the Rapid City Rush is still scoreless at Memorial Coliseum.

Rush goalie Danny Battochio, who came back after missing the Komets' 5-4 overtime victory in Game 3, has been stellar so far. His best save came against defenseman Frankie DeAngelis during a power play.

The shots are 10-8 in favor of the Komets, who trail the best-of-five Turner Conference semifinals 2-1.

By the way, Derek Patrosso is back in the Fort Wayne lineup after being a healthy scratch on Wednesday. Rookie Tom Mele is back out.
