Keys to the game

The TinCaps held Lake County to four hits, but couldn't get anything going offensively in a 2-1 loss in front of 2,025 fans at Parkview Field Monday.

Here were some highlights.

Key at-bat: Fort Wayne starter Andrew Werner made just one mistake and Jesus Aguilar made him pay, hitting a fastball over the wall in left for a two-run homer in the fourth inning.

Key out(s): The TinCaps final chance to get back in the game ended quickly. Emmanuel Quiles attempted to move Jose Dore to second with a bunt with no outs in the ninth inning and the team down one run. Lake County third baseman Giovanny Urshela charged hard, fielded and fired to second to start a rally-killing double play.

Key stat: The TinCaps went 1 for 10 with runners in scoring position. The team has scored two or fewer runs in each of its last six games.

"Hitting is contagious. When we got hits early, everyone was hitting, up and down the lineup. As of right now, we are hitting the ball hard, they are just not finding the way through."

- TinCaps first baseman Tommy Medica
