The Blob believes in giving credit where credit is due -- this is a no-glory hog zone, ya dig? -- and so a tip of the hat to assistant sports editor Tony Krausz for this thought about the lifting of the NFL lockout.
Why, Tony wondered yesterday, was the NFL seeking to immediately appeal Judge Susan Nelson's ruling lifting the lockout?
After all, what's this week?
Rrrrright. The NFL draft, aka Four Days Of Projectile Paralysis-By-Analysis.
And what do teams like to do during those four days?
Rrrrright. Make trades.
Sooo ... if I'm the teams, I tell the league reps, "Not so fast." Let the Nelson ruling stand, at least until the weekend's over. That way A) the teams can trade draft picks for actual players instead of just other draft picks, B) they can sign their free agents, and C) they can take care of any other assorted housecleaning they need to do before summer.
After that ...
Why, appeal away, boys. Appeal away.
